At the time of our visit in 2011, Dennis Bulani of Rack Petroleum in Biggar, Saskatchewan had developed a unique low cost, environmentally friendly method of retailing large volumes of Glyphosate herbicide. Bulani called it the Rackateer system and it involved making available to farmers, a 2,200 U.S. gallon tank of Glyphosate. The Rack leases the tanks to farmers for only $10 per year. The tanks come with a 3 horsepower pump which can fill the farmers sprayer directly or his chemical storage unit on his sprayer delivery water truck. The system is equipped with a metering system to keep track of the quantity used. It is also equipped with a one way valve system and associated seals so that only Rack personnel can fill the tank with product.
